Remembering a Significant Event In Our History

Unfortunately as Americans we can’t just open up the Christmas Season without remembering the events of Pearl Harbor the main reason we entered World War II when we did. With memories from a recent attack on our soil unlike September 11, 2001 which was an attack on civilians and military Pearl Harbor and Hawaii were just a US territories with military bases at the time, however most of the Pacific US Naval Fleet was destroyed in that attack. After Pearl Harbor the United States as a nation was going into the Pacific War Campaign which was fought more on the sea than on land and had to do it with a crippled Pacific Fleet. But, no matter how the rest of the war was fought what we need to remember about Pearl Harbor was the loss of over three thousand American lives with the separation of many families just as the Christmas Season was approaching in December of 1941. Being a big supporter of Veterans forgetting or ignoring the Seventieth Anniversary of Pearl Harbor would feel like going against all my friends who are Veterans I have made over the years.  

Veterans have earned the Right to be a proud group. Veterans have earned the right to get and deserve our respect. Having a father that is a World War II and Korean War Veteran I learned to value and be proud of all those who have served and respect them for their service.

Instead of making this Post / entry a history lesson I want to do something all my friends who are Veterans will appreciate. Being Pearl Harbor’s Seventieth Anniversary there will be no shortage to the tribute to those who survived and those who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor.

What any one of my Veteran Friends would like me to do at this point not to distract the attention away for those who are serving right now in Iraq and Afghanistan. To say thank you to all those families and their loved ones that will not be home for the Christmas Season. And, if anyone that is serving and has served is reading this blog THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!  You are the true defenders of our freedom.

Merry Christmas to our Veterans, all those who a currently serving, and all the families and friends the support our Veterans and Our Troops!
