Not too many people look to the shore for their fall vacation interests but the Shores of the Mid-Atlantic States have a lot to Offer these days. I had the pleasure of spending a Columbus Day week in Ocean City Maryland a few years back and found that Ocean City Maryland has lived up the hype behind the town just north of the Chesapeake Bay. The lines were short and the hospitality of Ocean City was so inviting that someday soon I want to try another spectacular autumn week some time in the future.
Secrets Night Club and Restaurant was the high-light of my wife Pam’s week even though the main beach bar and the bay bars were open with the other five bars closed. Secrets has a certain charm to it as a very popular night spot with offerings that most of us will enjoy. I can’t even imagine the crowds during the summer months but this is why I like to vacation during the offseason where ever we go. Ocean City has many pancake and pizza houses it seems as the main theme for a quick meal as you are driving down the Coastal Highway. I guess Pancakes and Pizza is ok unless they offer syrup as a topping on my pizza I’ll go with it. When you get on the Boardwalk you see a few more customary New York Style Pizza Places and a particularly Good French Fries Shack called Thrashers. Forget the diet guys the food is fantastic!
But we did not come here to talk about Oceans City’s Hospitality which is the pride of the town especially since this boy was raised on the Jersey Shore. We are going to talk about two great events that all ages who like Hot Rods, Classic Cars, and Corvettes will enjoy. Even if you are not an automobile enthusiast you will appreciate how all these participants display their prized machines. Everybody loves a parade and this one is on the boardwalk with a cruise down Ocean Highway in two consecutive weekends with two different venues. The first weekend is Endless Summer Cruisin’ on Columbus Day Weekend, with the second venue the Free State Corvette Weekend is the following weekend. If Mom and Sis really insist they are really bored with the car thing, there are the Rehoboth Shopping Outlets about sixteen miles north or Ocean City for an all day tax free shopping experience. When evening comes, enjoy some of the charm of this Maryland Shore Town with the many great Taverns and Restaurants to please you. After Breakfast on Sunday grab a bag lunch and take a ride through Assateague Island National Seashore and enjoy the wild horses roaming the coastal beaches. Dad, don’t forget the surf rods because the Assateague Shore offers some terrific fishing!
The festivities start with the Endless Summer Cruisin’ October 6 thru October 9, 2011 and ends with the Corvette Weekend October 14 thru October 16, 2011. And with the Ocean City Guide website you will find other fun events both weekends to make sure no one is disappointed with a moment to spare with these fun filled weekends.
Whether it is a Romantic Getaway for two, or a fun filled Columbus Day Weekend with the family these two weekends have a lot to offer you in This Great Shore Town in Maryland.
