As we welcome the holidays with all the hustle and bustle the American Legion Bateman Gallagher Post 668 has a tradition that may have changed names and leaders but never lacks in Holiday Charm. This Tradition took a hiatus for few years prior to 1999 when the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 668 took it over as the Turkey Raffle Dinner where I ran the Dinner from 2006 through 2008. With a total change in leadership at Post 668 in 2009 came a change in name of the Turkey Raffle Dinner but certainly not a change the spirit of the season. The American Legion’s Fall Fundraiser has been simplified as a Post event but enhanced by my close friend Katie Patishnock or Katie Armour as many know her. Simplified only in the way of the administration as more Post member shelp with the organizing of this feast. Now the Fall Fundraiser has as much to offer and more than it ever has in true down home tradition with a hint of Indiana Pennsylvania charm here in the Philadelphia area with Katie’s efforts. The cozy setting of Post 668 makes this one of the top events each year second only to Memorial Day and Veterans Day as a favorite of the Post members, their family and friends with it important to note to the public being invited too.
The Fall Fundraiser along with other fundraisers is just a few of the days Post 668 can open its doors to the public as I explained in our October 13 2011 post / entry to this blog about clubs and fraternal organizations under the PALCB laws. These fundraisers are important to the welfare of the image and integety of clubs and organizations as we help other organizations with their fundraising efforts. In this tight economy it is the pleasure of all members volunteering their time to give everyone an option to receive a little something more with their time and generous donations.
