When we were
talking about Valentine’s Day with it’s retail ties we have to take a look into
marketing in general. Why do retailers make us think milestones,
celebrations, or historic events we have to connect us as a people with the bargains they associate with these historic or religious holidays? What do presidents have to do
with another excuse to go and buy something anyway? With holidays we do have the right
to take some time to think or learn about what the many or the few did to
improve our life as a people. Nobody forces anyone to go to the sale at your
favorite auto dealer or department store. A holiday is to celebrate and appreciate
what others have done for us as we celebrate in any way we see fit. In this case men who lead our country through
both difficult and prosperous times.
As a nation we are
the melting pot of the world as well as we have to understand the American Dream came
from somewhere. We also need to remember our country was not formed for the sole purpose of
retailing and the twenty to fifty percent savings or the retailer's bottom line. We have to as a people tell those
who do not know to understand the true meaning behind a celebration while emphasizing
the many ways to celebrate. Even a Holiday as simple as President's Day. We celebrate in many different ways and in this way
we celebrate by honoring those who served us the People of these United States as well as protecting our interests and freedoms. This includes the right to retail, the industry which most reflects our quality of life and the way we live.
