I have never been shy about my love for trains as I was growing up as kid and as an adult. My Granddaughter and Thomas the Tank at the Strasburg Rail Road (September 26, 2011 Blog Post) has heightened my fondness of trains once again just by seeing the joy as Thomas Left the Strasburg Station. It seems you never lose the passion for historic railroads and train no matter how old you get. Railroads and trains with all the nostalgia and memories with a long history of engineering and scheduling moving passengers and freight is an endless fascination for us kids young and old.
Through a
new found friend and a generous volunteer I have found another one of these not
so well known treasures in South Eastern Pennsylvania ideal and waiting for
families all around the Philadelphia Area as well as the cornering three states
to come and enjoy. The historic West Chester Railroad is ready to take you on a
ninety minute ride connecting Chester and Delaware counties from West Chester
to Glen Mills and back. The Schedule for Holiday adventures and weekend train excursions
starts the Weekend of March 23, 2013 with the Easter Bunny Express and runs
through December 22 with the Santa’s Express. The West Chester Railroad also
runs specials for Mother’s Day as well as Father’s Day with a Picnic Special
run in June as well as The Great Pumpkin Express or my soon to be favorite the
Fall Foliage Express and much, much more.
Unique to
the Historic West Chester Railroad is their ability to book or charter private
excursions. Imagine the possibilities this extends to the enjoyment of your own
private party or event. Imagine the surprise to everyone as you ride the
beautiful Chester Creek Valley conducting your way to the fun filled adventure
planned by you and the West Chester Railroad. Maybe that is too lavish for your
blood? Well, how about reserving your
party on the West Chester Railroad’s dinning car during a regular scheduled
trip which seats up to forty eight people. Some special kid young or old will certainly
enjoy that!
With all the
history, the events, custom charters, dining car rentals and just plain family
fun shouldn’t you look into the West Chester Railroad for your next family day
out?
